PMT- Jetmill / ATRITOR
First order for ultra-fine minerals in the UK

Atritor Ltd., agents for PMT-Jetmill GmbH, Austria, have secured the first order for this advanced air jet mill for a fine minerals application in the UK. The customer expects the PMT-Jetmill SJ50 unit - see photo - to easily  achieve   their  rigorous  particle  size  specifications,  having  run
exhaustive tests in the test centre in Leoben, Austria. The production scale test unit gives absolute confidence in guaranteeing the larger SJ50 for the various products and specifications required.

The order has been won against tight competition from major international suppliers and the customer, whose name must be withheld at this time, is convinced that the new installation will give him a significant product quality advantage over other available technology.

The SJ50 is a medium scale unit requiring around 3000 Nm³/h of hot compressed air at around 10 barg to produce fine minerals with

cut points between 3 - 45 µm, at rates typically from 200 - 4000 kg/h. To get the most economical specific energy outcome, PMT-Jetmill design each installation to match the customer's choice of compressor, although the Atlas Copco oil-free screw compressor ZR range is recommended to get the highest efficiency from the system. PMT-Jetmill have also incorporated an effective system for the continuous rejection of abrasive impurities from the base of the mill body as well as a sample collection point on the top outlet to effect Q.A. monitoring of top cut points.

This air jet mill is particularly effective for the ultra-fine milling of laminar or non-regular crystal, filler minerals such as talc, mica, graphite, wollastonite, zeolite, barytes and kaolin, and for low density materials, whose classification is problematic on less advanced integral jet mill classifiers.

Atritor - experts in simultaneous drying & de-agglomeration, surface coating, fine milling and classification - represent PMT-Jetmill in both the UK and Ireland and have a comprehensive test facility in Coventry.
